Ted Greene - Live at the Seashell Restaurant - Part 3
Toward the end of January 1993, Ted took a regular gig playing solo guitar at the Seashell restaurant in Woodland Hills, California, on Friday and Saturday nights. This gig lasted about four months. During this time one of his students videotaped one of these nights. The camera was placed on the dinner table right in front of Ted. The video was not high quality, and the noise from the people in the restaurant was very loud, making the recording almost unlistenable.
The original video recording captured part of one set, and the full last two sets of the night. We present these sets as part 1, 2, and 3 of this evening in January 1993.

Original Theme

Ted Greene plays a composition he was working on, this being just a theme for a possibly larger piece. Recorded in 1978. Ted said, “This is a theme that I was working on. It’s inspired by the music to “Shane” by Victor Young, and the music to “Big Country” by Jerome Moross, and things like that. It kind of has overtones of a western era, and possibly some feelings of family - plenty of family, ...

Simple, uncomplicated, tonaliscious...perfect!
0:39 I think he made a "mistake" (accidentally muted/killed the note), then he shakes his head afterwards very subtle and I doubt anyone noticed, I just find performers' reactions to their mistakes to be interesting. beautiful performance obviously
Pure Magic ! Thanks for posting.
Ted and van eps Lenny : the triple chocolate Shake!
Does anyone know if he dropped the E string in this?
THANK YOU VERY MUCH INDEED we are so lucky and I am grateful to you for uploading an sharing with us here.
Why do I get so sad when I watch these. I think I realize how quickly everything we ever learned is only worth the moment we’re living in. Don’t forget to play your guitar today. I won’t.
I wish fender would make a Ted Green tele and give the proceeds to his family or a good cause. I’d buy a custom shop replica of that guitar.
"The Surrey with the Fringe on Top" was first, then Gershwin's "'Swonderful". but what was that last one?
Obrigado por chacoalhar a minha alma. Eu amo.
Otherworldly.
Thank you so much for posting this!! It truly means a lot.
He lives on in these videos and recordings. Thanks for all the work to clean up the audio and allow us to bask in the glory of Ted’s playing.
Ted Greene - GOAT... 🎸🎶💯
The Master. Ted’s beautiful tone comes through even on a crappy ‘90’s camcorder mike. 10,000 thanks to the tech wiz who made this possible.
i love Ted!
New Ted Green Archives video? Instant watch and like! Ted forever!
The GOAT. As always, absolutely sublime playing.
Beautiful.
Magic music.
Awesome
Sorry for the inconvenience but I'm seeing only Teds' archives, dors he died or retired ?
Ted passed away in 2005. Way too young.
@@TedGreeneArchives like every genius.. rest in peace , and thank you for the consideration
Thank you for this!
The giant steps is beautiful
I can't tell how much I love these videos and Ted,s masterclasses,i must have heard them a multiple times n looking forward for more❤❤❤
This song is so rock and roll. It could spawn generations of new sounds for decades to come. I love how it is adapted to be an actual guitar song here, not just a transcription. He is sliding and making this a modern classic. This song is the height of musicality
As a 65yr old welder I know i'll never be a "professional" musician BUT every morning i get up at 3.30 am and get out Teds' chord chemistry. Every now and then i ALMOST start to sound a little bit like Ted LMAO . At 5.45 am... i head off to my welding gig to pay the man. I cant tell you how much i love this guy and Mickey Baker. I encourage everyone who loves this.. to go to Ted's website and maybe put a couple of bucks in the tin. His contribution to guitar playing and players is just so inspiring. I hope these videos are available for ever.
Like watching an angel of weaving a pure melodic tapestry for the ears.
Priceless!!!!!!, Thank you!!!
The Brian Wilson of the guitar. No peers
Ted took the guitar apart man
I took lessons from a guy whose living room looked just like this. Stacks of albums, sheet music, music mags, and books.
More great playing from Ted. He seemed to like keeping his playing on the DL but those who were aware of him knew the greatness they were witnessing. Thanks for posting this and keeping his memory alive for those of us who loved his playing/teaching.
Honored to watch this thank you
Música tocada com grande espiritualidade...eu amo ....agora eu conheço o CÉU. Obrigado Professor.
This is a rare gem. Brilliant playing and such a beautiful tone.
Thank you thank you thank you!!! Ted’s beautiful tone and unexcelled playing really shine.
I miss him so much! I can barely watch this without breaking up.
8:27 adds groove to moon river, using right hand palm mute to add backbeat
4:27 quick moves
0:08 helpful to hear how much reverb he's using. idk if he intentionally "stabbed" a chord to measure the reverb before starting performance, but it's certainly helpful for us to mimic Ted's sound bc it shows how much reverb is present
Amazing harmonics starting the set and accenting throughout. Best sounds ever from a Telecaster!
THANKS SO MUCH FOR THIS!! The technology helps SO much...Ted's genius SHINES.
Mesmerizing isn't it! Incredible.
❤thanks for the Video 😊
You are only ever a semitone away from a good note.
gracias por esto 🥲
<3 thank you!
Ted's versions of 'I Remember You' are just some of the most beautiful things ever played on a guitar.
Thank you so much for editing and uploading these unvaluable performances! Which AI did you use for noise suppression? I know a few Django Reinhardt's recordings that have very poor audio quality with strong noise and I wonder if those AI technologies could do something..
